STEM Middle School
Leslie currently serves as the Director of the Elementary and Middles Schools. She has been with KCS for over 10 years and served in a variety of positions. Mrs. Baldridge is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton with a degree in Child/Adolescent Psychology. Additionally, she holds a graduate degree is in Elementary Education and is licensed to teach Elementary and Special Education K-6, with additional certification in grades 5-9 Mathematics.
Nainoa , the Eighth grade English Language Arts and Hawaiian Studies teacher earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and his teaching certificate from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Known as “Kumu Kāne” amongst the students, he is very passionate about helping them become successful. Kumu Kāne’s high expectations help set a precedent for striving for excellence both in school and in the community. Kumu hopes his love for reading and writing is passed on to his students. There are no limits to the creative avenues that reading and writing can unlock for a person. When each school year is through Kumu Kāne wants nothing more than for his students to be better prepared for the future, to be willing to strive to be the best, and to be vibrant members of our various communities. Kumu Kāne’s enjoys being with his ohana as they inspire him to be better and to work hard for their sake.
Corey is currently serving the school as Dean of Students at the Kihei Charter Middle School Academy and teaching Technology. In his 12th year at Kihei Charter, he holds a B.S. from the University of Oregon (School of Psychology) a B.S. (School of Architecture and Fine Arts) and a MEd (School of Education). Mr. Holmgreen is licensed in the state of Hawaii in Science and Fine Arts. Further, he is a certified PLTW teacher, certified in the following courses: IED (Introduction to Engineering and Design) POE (Principals of Engineering) CEA (Civil Engineering and Architecture). Originally from Oregon, he has been living on Maui since 2001 and enjoys spending time with his family. Mr. Holmgreen’s extensive background has been very beneficial to KCS.
Dalton Shane Bagley is currently serving as the 6th Grade English Language Arts Teacher at Kihei Charter Middle School. Having earned an Associate’s of Arts in Teaching from Ozark Technical Community College and a Bachelor's in English with a Teaching Certificate from Southwest Baptist University, Mr. Bagley moved to Hawaii to further his teaching career. While finishing his degree, Mr. Bagley was a Paraprofessional Special Education Teacher for two years at Glendale High School in Springfield, Missouri. After graduation, Mr. Bagley taught English I for Freshman and Journalism I for Sophomores through Seniors at Glendale High School before joining KCS. Mr. Bagley is a huge NBA fan!
Dana was born and raised in Superior, Wisconsin and is an avid hunter and Green Bay Packer fan. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Bemidji State University and later attained his special education license at University of Minnesota-Duluth and his master’s degree from Mankato State University. Mr. Gravesen has taught math and provided special education services for 20 years working with incarcerated youth/adults for the Minnesota Department of Corrections in three different facilities. Currently, he is providing special education services for the middle and high school.
David grew up in Colorado as an adventurer, athlete, innovator and teacher. Currently, he teaches 6th and 7th Grade Science at KCS. He holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in educational technology and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a minor in Music. Mr. Herring has taught a variety of courses since 2007 including: Science, Math, Technology, Art, PE and Music. David is a technologist with current developmental interests in; Augmented and Virtual Reality, Photogrammetry, Drones, Maker Labs, Video and Audio Productions.
Ethan, is in his third year at Kihei Charter Public School. He teaches 7th grade English Language Arts and has the ability to teach Spanish. He is originally from a small town in the middle of Missouri, but claims Kansas City, Missouri as home base. Mr. Taylor graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2012 with a degree in K-12 Spanish Education and is also certified in 6-8 middle school English Language Arts. Mr. Taylor has taught both Spanish and English, as well as, English as a second language (ESL) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He looks forward to another great year with a great group of kids!
Matthew was raised in the paniolo town of Waimea on the Big Island. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English (Creative Writing) from San Francisco State University. Before becoming a teacher, Matthew was heavily involved in the poetry and music communities of San Francisco and New York City. He has performed music and poetry throughout the United States and Asia, and his poems have been published in both print and online in numerous journals. Mr. Martin has also published one collection of poetry. After working as a housing advocate with the chronically homeless in New York City, Matthew felt the call to teach and moved to Seoul, Korea where he taught English as a Second Language for three years. He is licensed to teach in the state of Hawaii, and after teaching in west Maui in 2016, he is excited to join the Kihei Charter School faculty as the 6th grade social studies teacher and middle school music teacher.
Heather recently moved to Maui and is in her first year at Kihei Charter Middle School teaching Technology and Engineering. Mrs. Ross is originally from California and attended the University of San Diego for her undergraduate degree in International Relations. After graduation she accepted a position in Connecticut with a financial marketing company. However, she quickly learned that teaching was her calling and she returned to university and earned her graduate degree in Education followed by Technology and Media. She has taught from kindergarten through eighth grade and has enjoyed being involved in curriculum development. One of her highlights of being a teacher has been traveling with a student travel program that took her to the United Kingdom, Australia & New Zealand, South Africa, Egypt, and China
Jackie earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Oregon where she continued to pursue a Secondary Teaching Certificate in Science. Her experience teaching prior to joining the Kihei Charter School ‘ohana includes 6th Grade (all subjects), high school Algebra 1, Health/PE and a variety of sciences. At KCS, she teaches 6th grade math & science. Mrs. Provance has coached volleyball, track and cross-country and is an NCAA All American athlete in the Mile. As an educator, she encourages all individuals to find passion in the learning process and become life-long learners.
Tari joins KCS after teaching in Denver, Colorado for the last fourteen years. She received a B.A. in English with a writing emphasis from San Jose State University, a M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Missouri, and holds multiple certifications in math and social studies. She is the 7th grade math teacher and an 8th grade projects teacher. In addition, Mrs. St.Marie is the adviser for the middle student council and student activities.
Theresa earned her secondary teaching certificate from the University of Michigan and her elementary certificate from Michigan State. She is Highly Qualified in both English and Social Studies. She completed a two year training in Waldorf Education and attended summer intensive training in New York, California and Washington State. In addition, Mrs. Sherman has a MBA from Lawrence Technological University and has taught all grades, kindergarten through twelfth grade, in both private and public schools. She has traveled extensively through Europe, Africa, Mexico, and East Asia. She is the proud mother of twins, a daughter on Maui and a son in California, as well as, three grandchildren.
Christine was born and raised on Maui. After graduating from Baldwin High School, she studied at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Graduating with a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, Ms. Marsh went on to teach preschool for 5 years and later added a Middle Level credential in Math.She begins her 3rd year at Kihei Charter School teaching 8th grade Math and coaching cross country. In her free time she participates in CrossFit!
Imogen Klossner received a teaching credential and a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley as a double major in Molecular and Cell Biology and Anthropology with a minor in Science and Math Education. While attending UC Berkeley, Imogen worked in a genetics lab and taught art, ballet, and an undergraduate biology lab course. From 2014 to 2017, Ms. Klossner taught 6-8th science and high school biology at a charter school in the Bay Area. She now teaches 6th and 8th grade science at Kihei Charter Middle School.
